Terms of sale and use
The short version: try TrueStrobe free for 14 days. If you then buy a yearly plan, it renews each year until you cancel, and isn't refundable. Pro Lifetime is one payment, lasts for as long as we maintain and support TrueStrobe, and has a 14-day money-back guarantee. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected by anything here.

1. Who we are
TrueStrobe is made by Selfe Guitars, the trading name of Matt Selfe, a sole trader in the United Kingdom. Our address is 63 Manor Grove, Sittingbourne, Kent ME10 1LT. Email tuner@selfeguitars.co.uk with any question or complaint. In these terms, "we" and "us" means Selfe Guitars, and "you" means the person using TrueStrobe.
These terms apply when you use TrueStrobe at app.selfeguitars.co.uk or buy a plan. Our privacy notice explains how we use your information.
2. What TrueStrobe is
TrueStrobe is a strobe tuner that runs in your web browser. It listens to your instrument through your device's microphone or audio input; the sound is analysed on your device and never sent to us. You need a modern browser, a microphone or audio input, and an internet connection to sign in and to keep your session running.
We work hard to make TrueStrobe accurate and reliable, but it is a tuning aid. Readings depend on your instrument, input and surroundings, so please use your own judgement, especially for setup and repair work.
3. Your account
- You sign in with a code sent to your email address. Keep access to that inbox secure: anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
- Your account is for you. Don't share it or your sign-in codes.
- Standard tunes on one device at a time, and Pro (including Lifetime) on up to three at once. You can sign in on as many devices as you like; starting the tuner on another device pauses the oldest one if you're over your limit.
4. Free trial
Every new account gets a free 14-day trial with all Pro features, on one device at a time. No payment details are needed and nothing is charged when it ends: the tuner simply locks until you choose a plan. There is one free trial per person.
5. Plans and prices
| Plan | Price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | £4.99 a year | The strobe tuner in equal temperament, all instrument presets, on one device at a time. |
| Pro | £9.99 a year | Everything in Standard, plus Just, Pythagorean and ¼-comma Meantone temperaments and the Guitar Sweetener, on up to three devices at once. |
| Pro Lifetime | £29.99 once | Everything in Pro, including future updates to Pro, for as long as TrueStrobe is maintained and supported (see section 8). |
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT. Checkout may show the price in your local currency, with any tax that applies where you live.
Who you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe and sold through Link, Stripe's checkout service, which acts as the merchant of record: it takes the payment, handles the tax, and sends your receipts. Link's own payment terms are shown at checkout. Your agreement to use TrueStrobe is with us.
6. Access starts straight away
When you buy a plan, you get access immediately. By completing checkout, you ask us to start straight away and agree that, because access has started, you lose the legal right to cancel and get a refund that would otherwise last 14 days. That's why the free trial is there: please use it to make sure TrueStrobe works for you before you buy. This doesn't affect the Pro Lifetime money-back guarantee in section 9, or your rights if TrueStrobe is faulty.
7. Yearly plans
- A yearly plan renews automatically each year at the price then shown, until you cancel. You'll get an email reminder before each renewal.
- You can cancel at any time from "Manage subscription" in the tuner. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the year you've paid for.
- Yearly plans are not refundable, including for the unused part of a year, except where the law requires it.
- You can switch between Standard and Pro from "Manage subscription"; the price is adjusted for the rest of your year.
- If we change a yearly price, the new price applies from your next renewal, and we'll tell you before it does. If you don't want to continue, cancel before the renewal date.
- If a renewal payment fails, you keep access for 7 days while it's retried. After that the tuner locks until payment is made.
8. Pro Lifetime
- "Lifetime" means the life of TrueStrobe: one payment gives you Pro, including every future update to Pro, for as long as we maintain and support the tuner. It isn't a subscription; there's nothing to renew or cancel.
- It doesn't include any separate product or plan we might offer in future beyond Pro.
- If we ever decide to retire TrueStrobe, we'll email Lifetime customers at least 12 months before it closes.
- If you already have a yearly plan when you buy Lifetime, the yearly plan stops renewing. You aren't refunded for its remaining time, but you won't be charged for it again.
9. The Pro Lifetime 14-day money-back guarantee
If you change your mind within 14 days of buying Pro Lifetime, you can have the full price back, no questions asked. Open the tuner, select the Pro · Lifetime badge at the top, and choose "Request a refund"; or email us. Lifetime ends as soon as it's refunded. Refunds go back to the way you paid and usually arrive within 5 to 10 working days. The in-app refund can be used once per account; if you've had one before, email us and we'll look at your request.
10. Fair use
Please don't:
- share your account or sign-in codes, or try to get around the device limits;
- claim more than one free trial, for example with several email addresses;
- copy, resell, reverse-engineer or extract the tuner, its temperament tables or its code, except where the law allows;
- interfere with the service, or use it unlawfully.
If you break these terms, we may suspend or close your account. Unless the problem is serious or unlawful, we'll contact you first and give you a chance to put it right.
11. Changes and availability
- We keep improving TrueStrobe, so features may change. We won't take away a main feature of a plan you've paid for without good reason; if we do, you can cancel and we'll refund the unused part of any yearly plan.
- We aim to keep TrueStrobe running all the time, but there may be interruptions for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
- If we retire TrueStrobe, yearly plans stop renewing once we've given notice, and if it closes before the end of a year you've paid for, we'll refund the unused part.
12. Our responsibility to you
If TrueStrobe is faulty or not as described, you have rights under UK consumer law, and we'll put it right. We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that wasn't foreseeable, or for business losses: if you use TrueStrobe for your business, our total liability is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the problem. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
13. Ending your account
You can stop using TrueStrobe at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing tuner@selfeguitars.co.uk. If you have a yearly plan, cancel it from "Manage subscription" first. Deleting your account ends a Pro Lifetime licence too.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we change our plans or the law changes. We'll update the date at the top, and email you about significant changes before they affect you. The terms that apply to a purchase are the ones in place when you made it, unless a change is required by law.
15. Complaints and the law
If something's wrong, email tuner@selfeguitars.co.uk and we'll do our best to sort it out. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts, and if you live in another country you keep any protections of your local law that can't be overridden.
